Pyay is located in southern Myanmar, on the banks of the Irrawaddy River. This historic city houses the ruins of the ancient city Sri Ksetra, the former capital of the Py Kingdom and the gilded Shwesandaw Pagoda, a Buddhist pagoda in the centre of Pyay.
