Founded by the French in 1905 as an administrative outpost, Pakse is now the third biggest city in Laos. Situated at the confluence of the Mekong River and the Se Don River, Pakse is ideally located as a base to many of Laos’s sites such as Vat Phou and the Si Phan Don.
